Industrial Robot Training Courses

Hands-on, instructor-led 1-week and 2-week seminars on FANUC and ABB robots, held in Warren, Michigan or on-site at your plant.

Robot Training Seminars

Robotics Integration runs hands-on robot training courses for maintenance technicians, production supervisors and plant engineers who need to run, program and troubleshoot industrial robots without waiting on a call to the integrator. Choose a 1-week seminar for a single level or a 2-week seminar that stacks two consecutive levels back to back. Courses cover FANUC Levels 1 through 4 and the ABB IRC5 platform, taught at our training center in Warren, Michigan, or delivered on-site at your plant. Check the schedule below for open seats and reserve a date for your technicians.

Course Catalog

Our catalog covers FANUC teach pendant programming and troubleshooting across four levels, plus a combined ABB IRC5 course for operations, programming and troubleshooting. Each course lists an experience range as a guide; students who already meet it can test out of lower levels.

  • FANUC Level 1, Introduction to FANUC Robots (5 days) — for apprentices, journeymen, ECTs, supervisors and engineers with 0-1 year of FANUC experience. Covers safe operation, jogging, teach pendant basics and recovery from common faults.
  • FANUC Level 2, Programming and Troubleshooting (5 days), our most popular class — for journeymen, ECTs, supervisors and engineers with 1-5 years of FANUC experience or Level 1 completed. Covers teach pendant programming and root-cause troubleshooting that avoids unnecessary program touch-ups and re-mastering.
  • FANUC Level 3, Advanced Electrical Troubleshooting and Maintenance (5 days) — for technicians with extensive FANUC experience or Level 2 completed. Covers root-cause electrical troubleshooting, motor, brake and controller component replacement, and recovery without unnecessary re-mastering.
  • FANUC Level 4, Advanced Teach Pendant Programming (5 days) — for programmers with 5+ years of FANUC programming or Level 2 completed. Covers register math, background logic, skip conditions and automated error recovery in TP programs.
  • ABB IRC5 Level 1-2, Operations, Programming and Troubleshooting (5 days) — for students with 0-1 year of ABB experience. Uses IRB 140 and IRB 1400 robots with the FlexPendant and IRC5 controller; each student writes and optimizes a RAPID program in RobotStudio and deploys it to the robot.

1-Week Versus 2-Week Seminars

A 1-week seminar is one 5-day course focused on a single level. A 2-week seminar runs two consecutive levels back to back, for example FANUC Level 1 followed by Level 2, or Level 2 followed by Level 3, so a technician moves from basic operation into programming and troubleshooting without a gap between classes. A 2-week seminar can also be a two-week on-site program built around your plant schedule.

Pairing choice depends on where a technician stands: someone new to FANUC benefits from Level 1 into Level 2, going from safe operation straight into programming and root-cause troubleshooting in one block. A technician who already runs FANUC robots benefits more from Level 2 into Level 3, adding advanced electrical troubleshooting on top of programming skills already in place.

Upcoming back-to-back weeks in 2026 include FANUC Level 1, November 30 to December 4, followed by FANUC Level 2, December 7 to 11; and FANUC Level 2, December 7 to 11, followed by FANUC Level 3, December 14 to 18.

How The Training Works

Classes run about 75% hands-on lab time on robots loaded with fixtures, parts and end-of-arm tooling, with an 8:1 student-to-instructor ratio and two students per robot. Students hold a teach pendant even during theory portions, so the controls stay in hand from the first morning through the final project that ties the week’s lessons together.

Each student receives a textbook covering objectives, terminology and theory along with setup, operation and recovery procedures, which they can keep as a plant reference after the class ends. Progress is measured with a pretest at the start of the week and a post-test at the end; employers can request the course evaluations and the sign-in sheet for their records.

Students who work safely, pass all lab exercises and complete the assessments earn a training certificate of completion. It is a certificate of completion, not an OEM certification from FANUC or ABB.

On-Site Training At Your Plant

Training can be delivered on-site at your facility instead of at the Warren, Michigan center, using the same 5-day format and lab-heavy structure. On-site classes work best when your own robots are available for the group to program and troubleshoot on the floor or in a training area set aside for the week.

If your robots cannot be freed up for training, mobile robot cells can be rented and brought in so the class still gets full hands-on time without pulling production robots off the line.

Experienced technicians do not have to start at Level 1. Students can test out of a level and get help with placement into the course that matches their FANUC or ABB experience, so a mixed group of new hires and veteran technicians can each land in the right class instead of repeating material they already know.

Logistics And Training Funding

Every course runs 5 days, instructor-led, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a light breakfast and lunch provided each day. Classes are held at our training center in Warren, Michigan, in the Detroit metro area. Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) is about 40 minutes from the center, and Bishop International (FNT) is about an hour away; hotels within walking distance and car rental or rideshare make it straightforward to plan travel for out-of-town technicians.

Training costs can be offset through workforce funding. Michigan’s Going PRO Talent Fund and other state workforce training grants may help cover part of the cost of sending maintenance or production staff to a seminar; check with your state workforce agency or ask us about current programs when you reserve seats.

Reserve Your Seats

Reserve seats using the Reserve a Seat buttons on the schedule above, or submit the training request form with the course, the date, and the number of students you want to enroll. If you are not sure which level fits a technician’s experience, we can help with placement before you book.

On-site training is available if you would rather run the seminar at your plant, using your own robots or a rented mobile robot cell. For dates, seat availability, on-site details, or help matching FANUC or ABB courses to your maintenance and production staff, call Robotics Integration at 1-602-449-1556.
